| Photography has always been a force in my life. My father worked at a camera store when he was attending Optometry School. He ended up passing along his Yashica camera to me in high school for my first class. I loved developing my own film in the darkroom and watching images come to life in Developer Solution. I documented the many skateboard trips back to our neighborhood ramp. I followed and fell in love with the work of Ansel Adams. I would say his work still moves me greatly. There are a great number of others whose work captivates me for many different reasons. Instead of attending RIT or some other big photography school, my father assured me a degree in business would serve me better in life. Dad was right. After college, I worked in the corporate world for about fifteen years. I learned so many great things about selling, dealing with people, and running a successful business. These are all lessons I have been able to apply to the photographic industry. I spent some time working in the fashion industry dealing with designers, ad folks, art directors, etc. I love to look at the ads of Ralph Lauren, Tommy Bahama, Chanel, and so many others for inspiration. My wife would tell you I am type "A" in the sense I want everything to be perfect and strive to make my images flawless. Anyone who is a photographer would tell you we are always attempting to chase the perfect image. I can honestly tell you I have yet to take my best shot. However, there are many images I love and are present on this website. Photographing a wedding is rewarding and challenging because there are so many elements at play. I feel like I am a landscape, fashion, and commercial photographer all rolled into one. The couples that utilize me for my services appreciate that wedding photography doesn't have to be cheesy and contrived. I believe my work will stand the test of time, and I get great pleasure thinking that my work is hanging in many homes and being passed down through generations. I look forward to speaking to you about your event and how I can capture the beauty and emotion that is present at one of the best days of your life. |
